Caffe Lena Poetry Open Mic Featuring Marilyn Zembo Day and Leslie Neustadt

Caffe LenaOn Wednesday, December 6, Caffè Lena will present poetry readings by Marilyn Zembo Day and Leslie Neustadt.   An open reading will follow. Doors open for sign-ups at 7pm and the readings will start at 7:30. The host for the event will be Carol Graser and the cost is $5, free for students.

Marilyn Zembo Day’s work has appeared in publications like Metroland and various literary journals. She has also read her work on local radio stations. Marilyn has been a Regional Representative for the International Women’s Writing Guild and for over 25 years, under the umbrella Women Words, she has regularly led creativity and writing workshops and weekend retreats designed for women to recover and raise their own voices. Her long work in organizing and facilitating creativity, healing and empowerment workshops and events has had a lasting impact on her community.  She continues to be active in creating opportunities for local writers and artists.

Leslie Neustadt is a retired attorney, writer and collage artist. She donates the entire proceeds of her poetry collection,  Bearing Fruit, A Poetic Journey, to not-for-profits. Her writing has been published in a wide variety of journals, magazines and anthologies including Veils, Halos & Shackles, an International Anthology on the Oppression and Empowerment of Women and The Bloomsbury Anthology of Contemporary Jewish Poetry. Leslie has led workshops on ekphrastic poetry and collage making in conjunction with her art shows, and has presented expressive arts workshops for other-abled people. She is a member of the International Women’s Writers Guild, the Hudson Valley Writers Guild and is an enthusiastic participant/workshop leader at the  Women Writers and Artists Matrix which meets at Skidmore twice a year.
