Award- Winning Author and Poet Frank X. Gaspar at HVCC

Four-time Pushcart Prize-winning poet and author Frank X. Gaspar will give a reading on October 17th at noon, in the Hudson Valley Community College BTC Auditorium. Gaspar is the author of five collections of poetry and two novels. His work has appeared widely in numerous magazines, including The New Yorker, The Nation, The Harvard Review, The American Poetry Review, The Kenyon Review, Miramor, and Prairie Schooner. His sixth volume of poetry will be published this year.

His many awards include multiple inclusions in Best American Poetry, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, and the Morse, the Anhinga and the Brittingham Prizes for poetry. His novel, Leaving Pico, was a Barnes and Noble Discovery Prize winner and a New York Times Notable Book. His novel, Stealing Fatima, was a MassBook of the Year.

A Vietnam War veteran, Gaspar grew up in the old Portuguese West End of Provincetown, Mass. A descendent of traditional whalers and fisherman, his writings often reflect Portuguese-American themes.
