2nd Wednesday Poets Feature “Questions, Curses & Blessings”

Happening Wednesday, June 12: QUESTIONS, CURSES & BLESSINGS, an outpouring of poetry from Barbara Ungar’s Advanced Poetry class recently held in Glenville. Hear Dr. Ungar and her students read poems from the workshop, and share your own poems and flash fiction at the open mic. 7:30 pm at C.R.E.A.T.E. Community Studios.

Barbara Louise Ungar is the author of four prize-winning poetry collections. Her fifth full-length collection, Save Our Ship, is forthcoming from Ashland Poetry Press. She has also published several chapbooks and poems in journals such as Salmagundi and Rattle. She is a professor of English at the College of Saint Rose in Albany.

Featured poets from the class will include Stacy DeBritz, Ginny Folger, Susan Kress, Kate McNairy, and Leslie Neustadt.

Located at 137 State Street, Schenectady, C.R.E.A.T.E. Community Studios is the new venue for the 2nd Wednesday Open Mic series that used to meet at Arthur’s Market. There’s a bus stop out front and plentiful parking along State Street and Liberty Street, plus a free parking lot behind the building.

Readings begin at 7:30. Doors open for the open mic signups at 7pm (no earlier, please, because private meetings may be in session). Admission is free; coffee and tea are available for a donation.
